The policeman was hit on the face and on the hand.

When the suspect, who was believed to be drunk, tried to strike a third blow at him, the policeman pulled out his gun and shot the suspect dead.

The incident happened in Barangay Juaton, Ormoc City evening on September 26, 2025.

The 32-year-old policeman was assigned at Ormoc City Police Station 2 and responded that night to a report of a drunk man running amok.

The suspect wielded a 22-inch machete. The policeman tried to calm the suspect down.  However, the suspect struck him, hitting him on the face and on the hand.

On a third attempt, the suspect was shot. He was hit below the chest.

The suspect was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital, while the policeman sought medical attention.
