Floodwaters have started to recede in Calasiao, bringing relief to several communities after days of flooding.

From 21 barangays affected, only 11 still reported flooding on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, including Ambonao, Gabon, Longos, Lumbang, Malabago, Mancup, Nalsian, Poblacion East, Poblacion West, Songkoy, and Talibew.

The Marusay River, which rose beyond its normal level in recent days, has now dropped to 5.6 feet above normal.

“Although tuloy-tuloy naman po ang pagbaba nito, at iyong iba naman po ay stagnant rain water, kaya medyo may kabagalan iyong pagbaba or paghupa ng tubig sa kanilang area,” Kristine Joy Soriano, spokesperson of the Calasiao Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), said.

Some families remain in evacuation centers, while others have begun returning home. Among them was Fernando Casipit, who stayed with his family at an evacuation site for over a week after floodwaters reached chest-deep inside their home in Barangay Mancup.

“Kasi medyo pwede nang matulugan ang bahay namin, kaya uuwi na kami mga alas singko,” Casipit said.

Local officials said monitoring continues in flood-hit areas.

Mayor Patrick Caramat reminded residents to stay cautious despite the improving conditions.

“Hinihikayat ko rin po sila na mag-ingat pa rin po sa lahat ng mga pwedeng makuhang na sakit na dulot po ng pagbaha. Sana po ingatan po natin ang ating mga sarili,” he said.
