In light of the recent 6.9-magnitude earthquake that shook Bogo City and other bordering municipalities in Cebu, Cebuana Kapuso stars have turned to social media to express their sympathies and seek assistance for the victims.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the earthquake occurred at 9:59 p.m. on Tuesday night (September 30).
The quake, initially reported as a magnitude 6.7 before being upgraded to 6.9, has reportedly claimed 53 lives and left 175 injured as of writing according to GMA Integrated News’ latest updates.
Ex-PBB housemate and Sang’gre star Shuvee Etrata, a native of Bantayan Island, posted an Instagram story expressing her prayers for her province, especially San Remigio.
Veteran actress and Pepito Manaloto star Manilyn Reynes, who hails from Cebu City, also posted on Instagram and wrote a short prayer.
“Dear God, palihug, tabangi intawn ang tanan… Daghang salamat…” she wrote.
Sparkle artist and Ms. Universe Philippines 2019 Gazini Ganados, a proud daughter of Dapitan City, Cebu, also shared news posts regarding the aftermath of the deadly earthquake that has put Cebu under a state of calamity.
MUPH 2021 and Sparkle’s own Bea Gomez, who comes from San Fernando, Cebu, went to Instagram to share an infographic on post-earthquake safety, also reminding to be wary of aftershocks.
Gomez also shared Cebu’s official plea for help and medical volunteers as the province recuperates from the aftermath.
Young sparkle artist Olive May of teen series ‘Maka’ also offered her sympathies and prayers, asking her followers on IG to “keep the people of Cebu especially the families who have been severely impacted by the powerful earthquake in our prayers.”
Olive also posted a link on her stories where people can donate money and assistance, as well as a list of hotlines of government agencies and command centers across the province.
