A man was arrested and offloaded from a plane for cracking a bomb joke at the Davao International Airport in Davao City.
The bomb joke delayed a Cebu-bound flight on September 29, 2025.
According to the Davao International Airport Police Station (DIAPS), passengers had already boarded the plane when a male passenger reportedly joked during routine security questioning by airline personnel, saying “walay power bank diri, time bomb lang miss” (There’s no power bank here, only a time bomb, miss).
The remark was deemed a violation of Presidential Decree 1727 or the Anti-Bomb Joke Law, resulting in the man’s immediate arrest and offloading from the flight.
As part of standard safety protocol, the Aviation Security Explosives and Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Canine Unit 11 conducted paneling operations on the aircraft before it was cleared for departure.
The suspect was taken under the custody of DIAPS for legal procedures.
