Two wanted persons accused of murder in Lanao del Sur and Zamboanga Sibugay were arrested in separate manhunt operations.
Personnel of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested an alleged member of a criminal group accused of killing two men in Lanao del Sur.
CIDG said the accused identified as alias “Jamal,” 39, was arrested by virtue of a warrant for two counts of murder issued by a court in Lanao del Sur on February 24, 2021. The court did not allow the accused to post bail.
CIDG added that the accused is an alleged member of Opaw Criminal Group and MILF 1st Brigade Delta based in Camp Jabalnur, Marogong town.
Based on reports, Jamal and five other co-accused shot dead two men on board a vehicle using high-powered guns on August 8, 2020.
CIDG said the accused was also allegedly involved in bombing incidents, illegal drug trade, and gunrunning activities in the province.
“With his arrest, we significantly prevented crimes and helped the victims and their families attain the justice they deserved,” CIDG Acting Director, Major General Robert Morico II, said.
Meanwhile, another wanted person accused of killing a man in Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay was also arrested after hiding for 11 years.
CIDG said the accused identified as alias “Rolan,” 49, was arrested by virtue of a warrant for murder issued by a court in Zamboanga Sibugay on May 19, 2014.
The accused was listed as most wanted person in the Philippines with P145,000 reward for his arrest.
CIDG said the accused allegedly stabbed to death a man using a bladed weapon in Barangay Marsolo on May 21, 2013.
After the arrest warrant was issued, the accused reportedly hid in Lanao del Norte and Zamboanga del Sur to evade arrest.
“With this arrest, we helped the victim and the victim’s family attain the justice they deserve,” Morico added.
