A landslide hit Barangay Cambubho in Danao City following aftershocks that Cebu continued to experience even after two days since the magnitude 6.9 earthquake on September 30, 2025.

PHIVOLCS recorded at least 2,792 aftershocks as of October 2.

In a Facebook post, the Danao City Government said no one was hurt in the landslide but 15 residents in the area had to be evacuated. They are taking shelter at the Cambubho Integrated School.

Mayor Nito Durano and Vice Mayor Ivy Hotchkiss Durano checked the landslide site personally and brought relief goods to the families affected.

Barangay workers also found ways to bring relief goods to residents who could not leave their houses due to the rocks and soil that have blocked the road.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) continues to monitor the situation, as of this writing, and is eyeing the possibility of evacuating more residents.

The mayor has recommended close coordination between the Danao CDRRMO and the DRRMO of neighboring Asturias town, considering that the road affected by the landslide is an access road.

Meanwhile, CDRRMO has recommended to include experts in rock and soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and geotechnical and structural geology in addressing the situation.
