“No permit needed to deliver relief goods to northern Cebu.”
This was the reminder of the Provincial Government after a social media post said those bringing relief goods for earthquake survivors in northern Cebu need to register with Capitol.
The post reportedly read:
“All vehicles and passengers going to Bogo and Northern part of Cebu will have to register & get a PASS from Capitol to be able to go to your respective destination for your relief operations. Kindly go directly to Capitol Social Hall at PDRRMO help desk.”
The provincial information office said they have received complaints about the post.
On October 2, 2025, the provincial government said this is untrue, and that no permit is required for anyone who would want to travel north to bring help.
“The Cebu Provincial Government clarifies that no permits are required for private individuals or groups transporting relief goods to northern Cebu.
Those who wish to deliver aid directly may do so without needing to register with the Province.
Donations coursed through the Capitol, however, will be received and recorded at the Command Center to ensure transparency, proper documentation, and accountability, and to guarantee that assistance reaches intended beneficiaries.”
Late evening on September 30, 2025, a magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck off Bogo City in northern Cebu, leaving at lest 73 dead and 297 injured as of October 2.
The local government units most affected include Bogo City, San Remigio, Medellin, Tabogon, Sogod, Tabuelan, and Borbon.
Immediately after the quake, many groups have come together to gather relief items and bring them to survivors.
