The City Government of Zamboanga dispatched on Thursday, October 2, 2025, another wave of relief assistance to victims affected of the deadly magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck Cebu.
The assistance consisted of 700 sacks of rice (25 kilos each) from the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), 20 boxes of canned sardines, and 1,000 jerry cans of water.
Mayor Khymer Olaso also donated 1,000 bags containing two kilos of rice each from his personal funds.
The cargo was transported aboard two Coast Guard vessels, the BRP Tubbataha and BRP Capones.
“Before the vessels set sail, the mayor penned a message in the coast guard's guest book, wishing the crew a safe voyage as they carried the vital aid to Cebu,” the city government said in a Facebook post.
The city government said the first batch of relief assistance, set on Wednesday, had already arrived in Cebu City. The group composed of 19 personnel from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) delivered an initial 300 sacks of rice, 1,000 boxes of canned goods, and 1,000 jerry cans of water.
