Experts from the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) have started checking churches and historical sites affected by the magnitude 6.9 earthquake in northern Cebu.

One of those the group visited is the 130-year-old Archdiocesan Shrine of Santa Rosa de Lima in Daanbantayan town considered a historical landmark.

The earthquake that struck northern Cebu on September 30, 2025 killed at least 70 individuals and injured over 500.

It has affected over 47,000 families (over 170,000 individuals) with many needing food, water, and shelter.
