The magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck northern Cebu on September 30, 2025 has affected up to 209,972 families (372,513 individuals) in Cebu Province.

This is based to Situation Report No. 11 released by the provincial government on October 5, 2025.

The report also said that 6,140 families (5,270 individuals) have been displaced with 71 confirmed dead, 592 injured, and three missing, as validated by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

The areas affected heavily by the quake are Bogo City, Medellin, San Remigio, Daanbantayan, Sogod, and Borbon.

The quake’s epicenter was traced off Bogo City.

The other towns that reported damage Tabogon, Tabuelan, Tuburan, Bantayan, Santa Fe, Catmon, Carmen, San Francisco, and Madridejos

As of October 5, the priority needs for the survivors and for rehabilitation efforts are the following:

  • Food and potable water
  • Modular tents and shelter materials
  • Hygiene kits and medical supplies
  • Water tankers, generators, and heavy equipment

The provincial government said it has received at least P7.9 million worth of in-kind donations and P66.4 million cash donations

Continuous distribution of relief goods to Bogo, San Remigio, Medellin, Daanbantayan, Sogod, Tabogon, and Borbon.

Also as of October 5, the province said 99 percent of power has been restored at the barangay level with telecommunication services restored mostly, albeit other areas still experiencing intermittent connection.

In a related development, up to 2,500 tents are expected to be put up in Barangay Cogon, Bogo City for residents displaced by the earthquake.

Meanwhile, experts from the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) have started checking churches and historical sites affected by the quake.

One of those the group visited is the 130-year-old Archdiocesan Shrine of Santa Rosa de Lima in Daanbantayan town considered a historical landmark.
