The Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) will shift to online or asynchronous classes in response to reported cases of Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) in its Main Campus in Tacloban City, Province of Leyte.
Safety measures that have taken effect on Monday, October 6, 2025 include strict prohibition of students from reporting physically to the campus, the temporary closure of Technomart, the campus store; and that non-teaching personnel are directed to conduct sanitation in their respective offices.
The shift to online classes is set until Friday, October 10, 2025.
“If you experience any flu-like symptoms, please report immediately to your teacher or supervisor for proper medical guidance. Let’s work together for a safe and healthy campus,” reads a portion of Memorandum No. 10-02-2025 issued by the Office of the University President.
The report added that EVSU has begun thorough disinfection of classrooms, offices, laboratories, restrooms, and other shared areas following confirmed cases of HFMD on its main campus.
“This cleaning effort aims to prevent further transmission and ensure a safe environment before students and staff return to in-person classes,” EVSU said.
