A woman who reported of a newborn abandoned in a pigpen was later found to be the baby’s own mother. 

The woman said that she found the baby in a pigpen past 8 a.m. on October 4, 2025. 

The incident happened in Barangay Anonang, Leon town, Province of Iloilo. 

When the police responded, the 20-year-old woman, referred to as “Ana,” said she found the newborn. 

Ana said she was with her two-year-old child that day. But when the police returned the next day, they doubted Ana’s statement, citing of her unusual  behavior. 

“Parang namumutla siya. Hindi siya mapakali at ang kanyang damit, may blood stain at sa back portion ng kanyang legs, may mark ng dugo,” said Lt. Mark Cortez, deputy chief of Leon Municipal Police Station. 

Later, Ana admitted she is the mother of the baby. 

A medical examination validated that she has delivered a child. 

“Itinago niya kasi nahihiya siya sa kanyang kalagayan at ayaw niyang mapahiya sa kanyang pamilya,” Cortez added. 

Ana is taken into the custody of the Leon Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, while the newborn is at Aleosan Distirct Hospital. 

The baby is reported to be well. 

Police said that Ana stays with an aunt, and that she separated ways with the father of her first child.
