A 20-year-old motorcycle rider was killed while two people on board another vehicle were injured after an alleged drag race resulted in a collision in Kidapawan City.
CCTV footage showed a multipurpose vehicle crossing Sinsuat Street around 1 a.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2025, when it was hit by a speeding motorcycle.
Because of the impact, the rider died on the spot. The 22-year-old driver of the other vehicle and his 20-year-old female companion were injured and were brought to the hospital for treatment.
Based on investigation, the rider who crashed into the multipurpose vehicle was allegedly involved in a drag race with another rider illegally.
“Nag-drag race itong dalawang lalaki. Col. Jose Marie Simangan, said.
Police said settlement talks between the parties involved are ongoing, as of this writing.
Authorities admitted that catching riders involved in drag racing remains a challenge.
Police reminded the public to avoid illegal drag racing activities to prevent accidents.
