A 51-year-old food delivery rider was killed after he was hit by a speeding van in Barangay Hinaplanon, Iligan City on Monday, October 6, 2025.
CCTV footage from a house nearby showed the rider emerging from an alley and preparing to cross the national highway.
Shortly after making a left turn, the rider was hit suddenly by a van that was overtaking another vehicle, which had slowed down to give way to the rider.
The strong impact threw the rider onto the road. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The van driver is now under the custody of the Traffic Enforcement Unit of the Iligan City Police Office while authorities await the decision of the victim’s family on whether or not they would file charges.
