Police in Guagua, Pampanga are investigating a daring pawnshop robbery where suspects allegedly gained entry through an abandoned building beside a cemetery.
CCTV footage showed the suspects loitering around the area before cutting the camera lines and breaking into Macabulos and Mabanta Pawnshop in Barangay Sto. Niño evening on October 4, 2025.
The next morning, the shop owner found the vault open and items scattered inside the office. An undetermined amount of cash and jewelry were stolen.
According to initial reports, the suspects created a hole in the wall of the pawnshop to gain access. Tools used in the break-in were left behind.
PLtCol. Arnold Montesa, chief of Guagua Police Station, said the suspects came from a cemetery at the back of the abandoned building.
“Nakita namin doon sa abandonadong building dun sila dumaan. Sa likod kasi ng building na iyon sementeryo… kaya makikita niyo masukal,” he said.
Montesa added that the suspects were well-prepared for the break-in.
“Kumpleto talaga sila, ma’am, eh talagang magagaling talaga sila. May jack, crowbar, acetylene, lahat talaga ng puwedeng pangsira nandoon talaga sa kanila. ‘Yung binutas nila saktong isang tao lang ang makakadaan. Laking gulat ko po noong nakita ko, galing po talaga sila sa sementeryo. Mayroon po silang telescopic aluminum ladder,” he said.
Authorities are now conducting follow-up investigations, checking possible fingerprints and additional CCTV footage to identify the suspects.
The Pampanga Police Provincial Office assured the public that security measures in the area will be strengthened.
