Willard Elemino, 51 years old, and resident of Camp 7, an upland barangay of Minglanilla, Cebu was on his way home afternoon of October 7, 2025, via the Talisay-Toledo Wharf Road when he and other motorists got stuck for half an hour because of a risky road condition.
Elemino and his wife, on board their motorcycle, had to maneuver carefully amid swift runoff carrying rocks, soil, mud, and other debris that spilled on the road near a viewing deck in Camp 5, Barangay Manipis, Talisay City, Cebu making it difficult and hazardous for the trip.
“Kuyaw kaayo kay kusog man ang uwan, unya moaksyon og kaanod ang motor, sa kilid pangpang nga lawom,” Elemino said.
He is referring to a 100-foot-deep ravine.
Elemino said that with the help of a backhoe that was clearing the debris and residents assisting motorists, they were able to get past the area, but had to deal with the rest of challenging road conditions due to the pelting rain.
Elemino cited that the situation is nothing new. This happens every time heavy rain falls.
“Bisan asa ka moagi naay baha sa karsada kay wala may proper drainage,” Elemino pointed out.
Elemino and his wife arrived home safe and sound, he said, but it took them over an hour for what supposedly was just a 20-minute trip.
