The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has lifted the tsunami warning issued after a magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck off Manay, Davao Oriental around 9:43 a.m. on Friday, October 10, 2025.

PHIVOLCS had advised residents in coastal communities of Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands, Davao Oriental, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur to evacuate immediately after the tsunami warning was issued.

PHIVOLCS said the Tandag, Surigao del Sur Tsunami Monitoring Station recorded a tsunami wave height of around 30 centimeters at 10:20 a.m.

The agency added that any effects due to the tsunami warning have largely passed, and all tsunami warnings for this event are now cancelled.

PHIVOLCS first recorded the quake at magnitude 7.6 but downgraded it to 7.5 and later to 7.4.
