A boy died after he was bitten by a snake in Barangay Malinawon, Mawab, Davao de Oro on Thursday, October 9, 2025.
According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, the Mawab Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) said the victim was rushed to the hospital but died shortly due to multiple snake bites in different parts of his body.
The victims’ mother said they were in their farm when her son was suddenly attacked by a snake.
The victim reportedly ran toward her, saying he had been bitten several times by a cobra, called locally as “banakon.”
Authorities advised residents, especially those living in remote or rural areas, to stay alert and wear protective clothing such as thick pants and boots when going to farms or forested areas.
MDRRMO has expressed its sympathies to the bereaved family.
