Several areas in Mindanao affected by the twin earthquakes that struck off Davao Oriental are set to receive financial assistance from the national government.

This was announced by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. during his visit in the province to assess the damage and oversee relief operations on Monday, October 13, 2025.

Marcos inspected damaged structures, including the Manay National High School and Manay District Hospital in Manay town, the epicenter of the magnitude 7.4 and 6.8 earthquakes that hit on Friday, October 10.

The President also met with displaced residents staying in tents at the municipal grounds of Tarragona, one of the hardest-hit towns, before convening a situational briefing with local government units and national agencies.

Marcos announced that financial assistance will be given to local government units as follows:

  • P50 million for the Provincial Government of Davao Oriental
  • P15 million each for Manay, Lupon, and Banaybanay towns
  • P10 million each for Tarragona, Mati, Baganga, Boston, and Cateel
  • P5 million each for Caraga and San Isidro
  • P3 million for Governor Generoso

Other affected provinces will also receive funding, including P20 million for Agusan del Sur and P15 million each for Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, Davao Occidental, Davao City, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands.

“It’s up to the LGU kung papano niyo gagamitin ito yung iba ginagamit pang augment. The reason na binibigay namin ang pondong ito sa inyo lahat ng bawat lugar may ibang pangangailangan. Mas alam ninyo kaysa sa amin ang pangangailangan ninyo,” Marcos said.

The president assured residents that the government will continue relief operations, adding that financial assistance for families whose houses were destroyed is already in place.

The government is also set to 150 build modular bunk houses to provide safer and more comfortable temporary shelters for displaced families.

“Pumasok ako sa tent ang init init so we will put 150 units,” Marcos added.
