Strong earthquakes struck off Manay, Davao Oriental on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
PHIVOLCS said a magnitude 5.6 earthquake hit the province around 10 a.m. Its epicenter was located 59 kilometers northeast of Manay, and the tremor had a depth of eight kilometers.
PHIVOLCS initially reported the magnitude at 5.8 but downgraded it later to 5.6.
Intensity III was felt in Tarragona, Davao Oriental while Intensity II was experienced in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur.
Instrumental intensities were recorded in the following areas:
Intensity I – City of Davao; City of Digos, Davao del Sur; Malita and Sta. Maria, Davao Occidental; Nabunturan, Davao de Oro; and Malungon, Sarangani.
After a few minutes, two magnitude 5.2 earthquakes rocked the province.
The first quake occurred at around 10:19 a.m. and was located 97 kilometers northeast of Manay, while the second tremor occurred at 10:39 a.m., about 25 kilometers northeast of the same area.
Both quakes had a depth of 10 kilometers.
PHIVOLCS said the number of aftershocks following the magnitude 7.4 and 6.8 twin earthquakes in Manay, Davao Oriental last October 10 increased to 1,281, as of 8 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14.
