Two cars and a motorcycle were damaged when one of three hand grenades thrown at a car rental shop in Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City exploded.

Authorities have recovered the two other grenades.

Capt. Greeky Cayao, chief of the Bacolod City Police Station 8, said two suspects on board a motorcycle threw the grenades at the shop at 2:10 a.m.

The incident was captured by closed circuit television (CCTV) camera.

Cayao said they are now looking into other threats to the family that owns the shop.

The shop owner said they cannot think of anyone who may have a grudge against them and wants them dead.

Rona’s family, and the rest of the neighborhood in Purok Villa, was awakened by the blast at past 2 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

A resident of the area said the blast was strong enough to cause the ground to shake that they thought it was an earthquake.

Prior to the grenade exploding, however, someone also reportedly threw something at the shop.

The two grenades recovered were placed under the custody of the Bacolod Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Unit of the Bacolod City Police Office.

Investigation into the incident continues, as of this writing.
