With All Saints’ Day fast approaching, caretakers at the Mangaldan Municipal Cemetery in Pangasinan have begun early preparations to ensure a clean and orderly environment for the expected influx of visitors.
Cemetery caretakers have been cleaning and fixing walkways to prevent flooding inside the premises. Outside, signs and markings have been placed to guide vendors where they can set up during Undas.
Some families have already started visiting to clean and repaint the tombs of their departed loved ones ahead of the holiday rush.
Pedro de Guzman, a caretaker, said they began cleaning since October 10, 2025, to make the cemetery ready before Undas.
“Inumpisaha mi la ya nen petsa dies. Umpiano malinlinis la. Umpasyal iray totoo dya, ta umpiano ag lara manlinis ya maong,” he said.
To ensure safety, management will prohibit sharp cleaning tools from being brought inside the cemetery on November 1. They also reminded visitors to dispose of their trash properly and keep the area clean.
Solar-powered lights have also been installed inside and outside the cemetery to keep the surroundings well-lit at night.
Officials continue to encourage the public to finish repainting and cleaning tombs early to avoid congestion and maintain order during Undas.
