A former pump attendant allegedly held up the gasoline station where he used to work in Barangay Dadiangas North, General Santos City, carting away around P100,000 in earnings.
In a CCTV footage, a man wearing a black shirt and carrying a firearm is seen waiting as a woman retrieves cash from a drawer. A few minutes later, the man hands her an open backpack into which she places the money before he flees the scene.
Police said the suspect, who had been dismissed from his job due to a reported cash deficit, returned to the station and pretended to visit his former co-workers, including the team leader who later became his victim.
“Kumpiyansa lang sila kaayo kay naa siya galingkod nibisita didtu kay murag one day ago, two days ago ba to, natanggal siya sa iyang trabaho isip gasoline employee dito, boy, kay naa kunu siya’y problema ba. Nga deficit, nadespalko, so siyempre ang management didtu gitangal,” General Santos City Police Office (GSCPO) Director, Col. Nicomedes Olaivar Jr., said.
Because of their familiarity, the victim did not suspect any ill intent.
The suspect then took the firearm of the security guard, pointed it at the victim, and declared a holdup.
Authorities are pursuing the suspect, as of this writing.
Meanwhile, the management of the gasoline station has implemented a reshuffling of employees and tightened security measures to prevent similar incidents.
“Nakig-coordinate pud mi sa police diri sa Gensan, nagdugang pud mi seguridad sa amua og nagkuha pud mi extra security guard,” gasoline station supervisor, Gerkin Gella, said.
