Three dogs died in two fires that hit Cebu City on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

Two of the dogs perished in the fire that hit a residential area on V. Aranas Extension in Barangay Duljo Fatima at past 7 a.m.

Firefighters tried to revive one of the dogs but were unsuccessful.

The fire was placed under control in minutes but affected 11 structures, one of which was destroyed.

Initial investigation pegged damage to structures at P192,000.

About two hours later, another fire broke out, this time, in Barangay Labangon.

The fire killed a dog that was trapped in the second floor of one of three houses razed.

The owner of one of the houses said the fire erupted when her grandchild played with matches on the first floor. She said they tried to put the fire out with water but it was quick to spread.

Three other houses were damaged.

Firefighters had a difficult time reaching the area, which is located in an interior portion of sitio Nalsubi.

To reach the fire scene, they had to connect water hoses one after the other. They managed to control the fire in minutes.

The Cebu City Fire Office pegged the damage at P375,000.
