A sinkhole was found in Sitio Manaybanay, Barangay Maslog, Tabogon town, following the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that rocked Cebu on September 30, 2025.

"The site has been assessed by the Tabogon Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) and confirmed as unsafe for entry, though it is located far from residential areas," the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tabogon said in a post on Thursday, October 16, 2025.

Residents nearby have been advised to remain cautious and report any ground cracks, unusual depressions, or water movement, to their respective barangay officials or MDRRMO.

"The LGU will continue to monitor the site for further assessment to ensure community safety," the post added.

INITIAL SINKHOLES IDENTIFIED ALONG MASLOG SHORE

Four visible sinkholes, both large and small, have been initially identified along the shoreline of Barangay Maslog.

"These sinkholes are visible during both high tide and low tide. Additional formations are still being verified by the MDRRMO," the municipal government said in a separate post on October 16, 2025.

"Residents and visitors are strongly advised to avoid swimming and going near the affected areas while further assessment and monitoring are ongoing," the LGU of Tabogon added.

"The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) will also be placing buoys around the site to mark and restrict entry for public safety. The LGU continues to coordinate with concerned agencies to ensure continuous monitoring and protection of nearby communities," it also said.
