Death toll in the devastating magnitude 6.9 earthquake that rocked Cebu on September 30, 2025 has reached 76, while 1,300 were injured.

Office of Civil Defense (OCD) 7 Director Joel Erestain said that the total number of fatalities has reached 76, after it was confirmed that there were persons rushed to hospitals but died there later.

However, OCD 7 did not specify from which parts of northern Cebu the additional numbers are.

The total number of injured persons taken to hospitals has risen to 1,300.

OCD 7 vowed strengthened recovery efforts of the government for the full recovery of earthquake victims.

Further, OCD 7 has reminded the public to stay safe amid continuous aftershocks.

Residents living near sinkholes are also warned of imminent danger.

A total of 70 sinkholes has been found in northern Cebu, according to assessments done by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau. (MGB).

The Cebu Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office averred that police visibility may be needed to control persons from getting near the sinkholes.

It was observed that the sinkholes have been treated as tourist sites, and other structures damaged by the earthquake.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health (DOH) checked the health status of persons living in affected areas in northern Cebu after receiving reports of respiratory-related illnesses due to living conditions especially in makeshift dwelling where children are more vulnerable to the heat and the cold. 

However, the DOH did not provide GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak details on the number of displaced persons in northern Cebu who are suffering from various illnesses.
