Tropical Depression Ramil maintained its strength afternoon on Friday, October 17, 2025, as it moved closer to the Bicol Region while more areas were placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1, according to PAGASA.
As of 4 p.m., the center of Ramil was located about 640 kilometers east of Juban, Sorsogon. It had maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 70 km/h while moving west southwest at 25 km/h.
Signal No. 1 remained in effect over several parts of Luzon and Visayas due to possible strong winds within 36 hours. PAGASA said minimal to minor impacts are expected in these areas.

PAGASA said Ramil is expected to continue moving westward and may make landfall over Catanduanes by afternoon on Saturday, October 18. It will likely pass close to or over the mainland Bicol Region by evening on Sunday, October 19, and then make another landfall over Aurora or Quezon by morning on Sunday before crossing Luzon.
The weather bureau warned that Ramil could still strengthen into a tropical storm within 12 hours and possibly reach severe tropical storm category before landfall. The highest possible wind signal during its passage may reach Signal No. 3.
Coastal areas in Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Bicol, and Eastern Visayas may experience storm surges up to two meters high within the next 48 hours. Rough to very rough seas are also expected over the eastern coasts of Southern Luzon and Eastern Visayas, where small boats are advised not to sail.
PAGASA reminded residents, especially those in flood-prone and coastal communities, to take precautionary measures and follow the advice of local authorities.
