Areas in Central Visayas and Eastern Visayas felt tremors, as a magnitude 6.0 earthquake rattled General Luna town in Siargao Island, Province of Surigao del Norte on Friday, October 17, 2025 at 7:03 a.m.
Based on Earthquake Information Number 3 issued by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the earthquake was tectonic in origin at a depth of 28 kilometers. The earthquake was reported initially at magnitude 6.2.
Tremors were felt in areas in Eastern Visayas.
Intensity IV (four) was felt in Anahawan, Hinunangan, Hinundayan, Liloan, Limasawa, Pintuyan, Saint Bernard, San Francisco, San Juan, San Ricardo, and Silago towns in the Province of Southern Leyte;
Intensity III (three) in Abuyog, Alangalang, Bato, Burauen, Dagami, Dulag, Hilongos, Hindang, Inopacan, Javier, MacArthur, Mahaplag, Matalom, Palô, Santa Fe, Tanauan, and Tolosa towns, the City of Baybay in the Province of Leyte; and the City of Tacloban; and
Intensity II (two) in Naval in the Province of Biliran; Ormoc City, Albuera, Babatngon, Calubian, Capoocan, Carigara, Isabel, Jaro, Kananga, Leyte, Matag-ob, Merida, Palompon, San Isidro, Tabango, Tunga, and Villaba towns in Leyte.
Further, Intensity I (one) was felt in Garcia Hernandez, Dimiao, Lila, Candijay, and Sevilla towns, Province of Bohol in Central Visayas.
