A total of 13 barangays in the Municipality of Estancia, Province of Iloilo have also been affected by the flooding on October 18, 2025 that hit areas in Panay Island.
At least 389 families, or 1,322 individuals, have been rescued and evacuated.
A man was reported trapped in his house when a school wall collapsed. The incident happened in Zone 1, Barangay Poblacion. Neighbors rushed to rescue him. He was taken to the hospital and survived the incident.
“Halin siguro sa aton nga mga bukid no? Kag halin man siguro sa… kay nag-high tide siya…isa sa problema diri sa amon siguro may ara kita diri sang poor drainage systems (galing siguro sa mga bundok, at galing siguro sa…kasi nag-high tide…isa sa mga problema dito sa amin siguro ay meron tayo ditong poor drainage systems),” said Estancia Mayor Bianca Requinto-Espinosa.
Vangie Jablan, a resident of Barangay Cano-an, stayed reportedly on the roof of her house for about an hour waiting for rescue.
“Ang kala ano guro daw amo gid na. Gaamo gid na ang kataason gid sang tubig. Lapaw-lapaw, ang amon panalgan na, sa panalgan namon, pag-abot to sa panlagan, may tubig pa gid, asta di ang tubig (Ganito kataas. Ganito kataas ang tubig. Lagpas sa ikalawang palapag namin. Ang pangalawang palabag namin may tubig pa, haggang dito ang tubig,” Jablan said.
However, the flood did not stop a bride from crossing a swollen spillway to get to the church for her wedding. A video uploaded by netizen Jean Rose Talaman showed that the bride, in her wedding gown, took a piggyback ride. A man carried her across an inundated spillway in Barangay Nueva Invencion, Barotac Viejo in Iloilo.
Despite the inclement weather, the wedding reportedly pushed through.
In Balasan town, Iloilo, a slight rise in water level was reported that inundated roads. The Local Government Unit conducted a preemptive evacuation.
According to data from Balasan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, at least 441 families, or 1,404 individuals, were taken to the evacuation center evening on October 18, 2025.
