Mount Kanlaon in Negros Island emitted smoke with ash twice morning on Monday, October 20, 2025.

According to the monitoring of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the first ash emission event was recorded from 7:28 a.m. to 7:38 a.m. This was followed by an ash emission that lasted for over an hour, or from 9:20 a.m. to 10:54 a.m.

The ash emission events generated plumes that reached 300 meters high.

At least 25 volcano-tectonic (VT) earthquakes were recorded.

Alert Level 2 prevails over Mount Kanlaon, which means that the volcano is in a state of increased unrest.

PHIVOLCS said that an eruption is possible.

"Since nasa Alert Level 2 pa rin tayo, posible po nakaka-experience tayo ng ash emission every now and then.Yung mga VPS natin matataas din po everyday. It means po na mayroon pa rin pong activity going on inside the volcano. It could lead to explosion,” said Ruth Asentista, project technical aide at the Kanlaon Volcano Observatory.
