The number of influenza-like illness (ILI) cases such as cough, colds, and fever in Cagayan de Oro City has gone up, according to the City Health Office (CHO).
City Health Officer, Dr. Rachel Dilla, said CHO has recorded 1,455 ILI cases from January to October 18, 2025, which is nine percent higher than the 1,324 cases logged during the same period in 2024.
Barangay Lumbia recorded the highest number of flu cases.
CHO said ILI is curable and can be prevented through flu vaccination and proper hygiene.
Health authorities urged the public to avail of free flu vaccinations at the barangay health centers.
“Gitagana nato ni siya sa mga senior citizens kay sila gyud ang vulnerable maski hilanat lang na siya pero viral man gud unya low ang resistance basin mo lala that’s why we are giving vaccination yearly,” Dilla said.
