It was a song that ended his life.

A 47-year-old man in San Mateo, Isabela died after another man shot him over a song choice at a karaoke in a gathering they were invited to.

Initial investigation showed that the victim and the suspect did not know each other and were only guests at the occasion early evening on October 19, 2025 in Barangay San Marcos.

According to witnesses, the suspect approached the victim’s group and shot the victim, claiming that the song the victim had sung was meant for him.

It was not disclosed what the song was. The suspect was quick to flee the scene.

The victim, a construction worker, sustained gunshot wounds in the head and chest.

The victim was rushed to a hospital nearby hospital but he passed away during treatment.

Police are pursuing the gunman who reportedly came from a neighboring town.

“According sa witness, dumayo ‘tong suspek kasi sa kabilang bayan po siya. Hindi po sila magkakilala ‘yung victim at suspect. ‘Yun nga po kasi hindi namin na-recover ‘yung baril, kaya ‘yung mga bala lang po, kaya nakipag-coordinate kami sa forensic,” PSSg. Clemente Caronan, Jr., the investigator on the case, said.
