The chairman of the largest and most populous barangay in Davao City has been ordered suspended.
In a statement, Barangay 76-A Chairman Robert Olanolan confirmed he received the suspension order from the Office of the Ombudsman-Mindanao on Monday, October 20, 2025.
He said he was suspended for one month without pay.
Olanolan said he respects the decision of the Ombudsman but admitted feeling disheartened, saying he was only standing up for and protecting his constituents.
The suspension stemmed from a complaint filed before the Office of the Ombudsman, accusing Olanolan of obstructing the demolition of informal settlers in Cabacan-Times Beach ordered by a private corporation.
Olanolan clarified that his intervention was not meant to defy the law but to safeguard the welfare of residents affected.
In March 2025, an arrest warrant was also issued against him for usurpation of authority based on the same complaint, but he was able to post bail.
