Authorities seized a cache of war materiel and improvised explosives in a forested area of Barangay Isca, Gonzaga, Cagayan.

Operatives from the 4th Mobile Force Platoon of the 2nd Cagayan Provincial Mobile Force Company and other uniformed personnel recovered various cartridges, a rifle grenade, a smoke grenade, improvised electric blasting caps, a shotgun and other war items at the site.

The operation followed information given by a former member of the communist terrorist group who surrendered and led authorities to the location on Sunday, October 19, 2025.

The surrendered rebel was debriefed and returned to their home in Barangay Isca after the interview.

PMAJ. Jefferson Mukay, acting force commander of the 2nd Cagayan PMFC, said the tip helped pinpoint where the war materials were hidden.

“Mayroon po tayong former rebel na sumuko sa atin, itinuro itong dating pinaglagyan ng gamit pandigma noong nasa kilusan pa siya. So, agad tayong nagsagawa ng combat operation upang tukuyin itong lugar, so natukoy natin kaya nakuha natin ‘yung mga war material,” Mukay said.
