The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples-Davao (NCIP-11) has coordinated with Indigenous Peoples (IP) leaders across the region to remind Lumads not to go to downtown Davao City to ask for Christmas gifts.

According to GMA Super Radyo Davao, NCIP-Davao City Provincial Officer, Djoanna Lyne Demonteverde said the agency continues to visit IP communities to raise awareness about the risks of going to urban areas and soliciting Christmas gifts, especially along busy streets.

NCIP has also partnered with local government units in Davao City, Davao del Norte, and Bukidnon to deliver Christmas gifts and assistance directly to IP communities.

Through this initiative, IP communities can feel the spirit of progress and abundance during the Christmas season.

Based on NCIP’s monitoring, there has been a decrease in the number of Lumads going downtown to do Christmas caroling compared to previous years.
