The local government of Arayat, Pampanga has ordered the mandatory wearing of face masks for all students, from preschool to college, in both public and private schools due to the rising number of flu-like illnesses in the town.
Under the directive, students must wear face masks while inside school premises or attending any school-related activities.
According to the Municipal Health Office (MHO), there has been a noted increase in influenza and flu-like cases among learners, prompting the local government to impose the measure to help stop the spread of illness.
School administrators were also instructed to coordinate with the MHO and the Arayat District Office to ensure strict enforcement of the order.
The local government said the policy aims to protect the health of both students and teachers. Those who fail to comply may face administrative action under existing municipal ordinances.
