Seven people were injured after a motorcycle and tricycle collided on the national highway in Barangay Old Cabalan, Olongapo City evening on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
CCTV footage from the barangay showed the tricycle entering a curved section of the road and overshooting into the opposite lane, where it collided head-on with a motorcycle coming from the other direction.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Tim Gamboa, chief of the Olongapo City Police Traffic Enforcement Unit, said the tricycle encroached on the other lane, resulting in the crash.
“’Yung na-reach nila ang national highway adjacent to MMT Trading, Brgy. Old Cabalan, Olongapo City, na-encroach po nila ‘yung opposite lane. Nasalubong po nila ang vehicle two natin, ‘yung motor. ‘Yun po, nagkaroon po sila ng head-on collision,” Gamboa said.
The strong impact caused the six passengers and driver of the tricycle to be thrown off the vehicle. The motorcycle rider was also thrown to the ground.
Responding medical teams from the barangay and the city rushed the injured to a nearby hospital for treatment.
“’Yung driver pati yung tatlong passenger up to now unconscious pa din sa hospital — ito ‘yung nasa kolong-kolong. Pero ‘yung dalawang pasahero outpatient na po. ‘Yung sa single motorcycle nagtamo din po ng mga injury pero nasa labas na po ng ospital,” Gamboa said.
Authorities are still verifying the identities of the victims as of press time.
The police reminded motorists to drive carefully, especially when navigating curved roads, to avoid similar accidents.
