Authorities rescued a 14-year-old boy who spread bomb threats targeting two schools in Davao City.

Police identified the suspect after tracing a social media post where he claimed to have planted a landmine and shared a post showing students gathered on the field at Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School (DRANHS) in Matina.

Authorities tracked the boy’s residence and rescued him.

Police said the boy reportedly admitted that he was behind the bomb threats, which he spread using multiple social media accounts, including one directed at Talomo National High School.

Investigators found out that the boy was a former student of DRANHS but transferred to Matina Pangi National High School due to behavioral issues.

The boy will not face criminal charges under the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act, but he has been referred to a social worker for monitoring and counseling interventions.

Authorities reminded parents to monitor their children.

Police are also continuing their investigation to identify other individuals who may have been involved in spreading similar bomb threats.
