The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) scheduled a 12-hour power interruption in areas of Iloilo Province on Saturday, October 25, 2025, or from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

NGCP will conduct preventive maintenance in its Santa Barbara Substation and tapping of disconnecting switch of the mobile capacitor in Tigbauan town.

The power outage will affect the franchise area of the Iloilo Electric Cooperative (ILECO) 1.

The brownout will affect the entire first district and a few towns and barangays in the second and third districts.

“Meron tayong massive wood pole replacement, papalitan natin ang mga poste na mga old na kahoy… steel post,” said Reagahn Alcantara, lead specialist of the Public Relations Department of NGCP Western Visayas.

A few business owners have expressed dismay over the 12-hour power outage.

Norma Sestoso, a water refilling station operator, said that the power interruption would render losses worth approximately P3,000 on that day.

“Apektado dahil whole day, walang income buong araw. Magsasara kami, wala namang magagawa,” Sestoso said.
