A minor explosive eruption was recorded at the summit crater of Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Island evening on Friday, October 24, 2025.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said the eruption occured from 08:05 p.m. to 8:08 p.m.

It was recorded by the IP Camera in Lower Masulog, Canlaon City observation station (VKLM).

"This event generated an eruption plume that rose 2,000 meters above the crater before drifting northeast," PHIVOLCS said.

"Pyroclastic density currents (PDCs) could be seen descending the southern upper slopes within 1 kilometer of the summit crater," the agency added.

Alert Level 2 remains over the Kanlaon Volcano.

Earlier in the day, two ash emission events were recorded at the summit crater of Kanlaon Volcano, which lasted 26 minutes to 119 minutes long.

These events generated voluminous grayish plumes that rose up to 600 meters tall above the crater before drifting west-southwest and northwest.
