Residents of several barangays in at least three local government units in Negros Island experienced ash fall following a minor eruption of the Kanlaon Volcano evening on Friday, October 24, 2025.
Based on a situationer report from the Office of Civil Defense (OCD)-NIR, the ash fall affected the following, as of this writing:
- Bago City - 12 barangays
- La Carlota City - 2 barangays
- San Carlos City - 1 barangay
Personnel of the Bago City Disaster Risk Reducation and Management Office have been placed on standby for possible evacuation of residents of Barangay Mailum.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the eruption generated plume "that rose 2,000 meters above the crater before drifting northeast."
"Pyroclastic density currents (PDCs) could be seen descending the southern upper slopes within 1 kilometer of the summit crater," PHIVOLCS said.
