Close to 160,000 houses have been reported damaged by the powerful earthquake that rocked Cebu on September 30, 2025.
One of these houses figured in a viral video.
The viral video about a house devastated by the magnitude 6.9 earthquake, but was classified only as “partially damaged” has reached the attention of the Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development (DHSUD).
The owner of the house in the viral video, uploaded by a certain Jesciane Rhem Sebios Corbo, ranted about the classification done by a survey team.
The house is located in Barangay Tacup, San Remigio town.
DHSUD said that the issue was already resolved officially, marking the house as “totally damaged,” according to Engr. Mark Anthony Lindugan, assistant regional officer of DHSUD 7.
DHSUD has been conducting assessment on destroyed houses in northern Cebu.
As of this writing, close to 160,000 houses have been reported damaged - and counting.
Owners of destroyed houses are set to receive financial assistance worth P30,000 while owners of partially damaged houses are set to get P10,000.
DHSUD is also up with modular or smart houses for displaced residents, including San Remigio where 40 modular houses have been set up with 60 units underway; while 21 in Daanbantayan town and 50 units more.
Each modular tent is worth approximately P190,000 that can house residents possibly for a year.
