At least 23 families were displaced after a fire hit a residential area near the shore in Purok Silway San Roque, Barangay Dadiangas West, General Santos City on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
Firefighters responded immediately, but it took them more than an hour to put out the fire since the houses affected were built close to each other.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), no one was reported hurt in the incident, but around 13 houses were destroyed.
Residents claimed faulty electrical wiring may have caused the fire.
However, authorities are still verifying the information and determining the cost of damage.
The local government and private groups have provided assistance to the families affected. Other residents are appealing for relocation.
