Police seized over P2.1 million worth of smuggled cigarettes after intercepting a closed van at a checkpoint in Barangay Nagsabaran, Diadi, Nueva Vizcaya, on Friday, October 25, 2025.
Officers stopped the van initially for visual inspection but noticed a partly opened box containing cigarettes. Upon checking, authorities found that the packs had no graphic health warnings or excise tax stamps.
The driver failed to present documents for the cargo and was immediately arrested.
A total of 53 boxes of smuggled cigarettes were confiscated.
The driver has yet to issue a statement as police continue their investigation.
