A passenger vessel ran aground while heading for the Port of Larena in the Province of Siquijor.
On board the ship were at least 359 passengers that were all rescued on October 25, 2025.
In an interview conducted by GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak with Lieutenant Junior Grade Riza Geneblaza, she said that the ship hit a shallow part of the waters deemed part of a coral reef.
Geneblaza, along with Lieutenant Junior Grade Richelito Arbis, deputy commander for operations, met the crew of the passenger vessel to discuss on the situation.
As of this writing, the ship is said to be sitting on top of corals.
Personnel of the Coast Guard are reportedly on an ongoing assessment along with other government agencies on the extent of destruction that the incident has caused on corals.
