A canyoneering tour guide in Badian town, southern Cebu sustained contusions and a dislocated shoulder after he was hit by a falling rock.

A video showed that on October 23, 2025, a few canyoneering enthusiasts at Kawasan Falls in Badian were already out of the river but the rest were still in the waters. Rocks went falling suddenly and hit the tour guide.

His fellow tour guides rushed to his rescue and took him to the hospital.

The 39-year-old tour guide is already out of danger, but his left shoulder was dislocated.

According to the Badian Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) that the rockfall could have been because of the series of ground shakings since the magnitude 6.9 earthquake rocked Cebu and aggravated by heavy rainfall.

The tour guide was already dispensed from the hospital and is recuperating at home, as of this writing.

It was also learned that relief asistance has also been handed over by the Local Government Unit (LGU) to the tour guide.

Despite the incident, the canyoneering activity resumed beginning on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 after the MDRRMO conducted further assessment and clearing operations.
