Four suspects were arrested for alleged carnapping scheme in Belison town, Province of Antique.
The four suspects were nabbed on October 26, 2025.
Three of the suspects are men, while the other is an 18-year-old woman. Three of them are residents of San Jose town, while the other is a resident of Bugasong town.
According to Belison Police, they received a 911 call on the incident. A checkpoint was immediately mounted, but the suspects fled.
With the help of the Global Positioning System (GPS) of the vehicle, it was located at a school in Belison where the suspects were caught. However, one of the suspects’ companions identified only as alias “Jona” evaded arrest.
“Nakita ang mga suspek na nagtatago sa damuhan, nakadapa sa field ng paaralan. Ang sasakyan sinearch [search] rin with the presence of barangay officials. Doon may mga baril ito sa loob ng sasakyan, mga cellphone at mga patalim,” according to Executive Master Sgt. Augusto Acebron, municipal executive senior police officer of the Belison Police Station.
Prior to the arrest, the owner of the vehicle reported to the police that the rented car was not returned. He added that the cellphone number provided by the person who rented the vehicle is out of reach.
“Nirentahan niya itong sasakyan noong Oktubre 17 at 19. So ang nagrenta, nag-extend siya until October 26. Kaso ang nagrenta hindi na nakabayad sa daily basis nila mula October 21,” Acebron added.
According to the police, they could not collect information from the suspects as they have refused to answer questions.
The four are detained at the Belison Police Station set to face charges for violation of the Anti-Carnapping Law and for illegal possession of firearms.
