At least 40 families were displaced after a fire hit a residential area in Barangay Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City.

The fire broke out in Dabatian Street past 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, amid heavy rains.

The fire was raised to fourth alarm as it spread quickly since most of the houses affected were made of light materials.

Authorities said at least 30 houses were razed to the ground.

Based on investigation, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the fire started from the house of Castillo family, though the cause has yet to be determined.

Affected families are taking shelter temporarily at the Barangay Carmen Covered Court.

BFP said the damage to properties was estimated at around P300,000.
