A group altercation in Floridablanca, Pampanga turned deadly when a 15-year-old student was struck by a bottle and lost control of his motorcycle.
Police identified the victim as a male resident of Barangay San Jose, Floridablanca. Two of his friends were injured seriously.
CCTV footage showed several men waiting by the road in Barangay Calantas when the victims, all minors, passed by on a motorcycle. One of the men hurled a liquor bottle that hit the victim in the head, causing him to lose control and crash into a nearby gate.
PLtCol. Erick Bagalawis, chief of the Floridablanca Police Station, said the attack stemmed from an online argument that escalated into a planned confrontation.
The primary suspect is a 24-year-old mechanic, and was arrested during a follow-up operation. Three other suspects, aged 18 to 20, surrendered later to authorities.
The group face charges of murder and two counts of frustrated murder before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in San Fernando City.
Karla Gotis, one of the victim's sister, said her brother was only out to help finish a school project when the tragedy happened.
Bagalawis urged parents to help authorities enforce discipline and curfew among their children.
Police continue to investigate the case as of press time.
