The Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao (NFEM) rescued three fishermen whose fishing boat encountered engine trouble off Loreto, Dinagat Islands on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

Personnel of NFEM were on routine maritime patrol when they sighted a small banca with the three fishermen signaling for help.

Authorities said the fishermen had been stranded for nearly four hours after the engine of their boat malfunctioned.

The fishermen were then provided with food, water, and medical attention.

The fishermen were identified later as residents of Mandaue City, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao City.

“At the request of the rescued fishermen, the vessel proceeded to Libjo Bay, Dinagat Islands, where their relatives were waiting. Upon arrival near the port area, PS37 coordinated with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Sub-Station Libjo to ensure the safe turnover of the fishermen and their banca,” NFEM said.
